In essence, you don’t really need a surveyor present on board you might think. You have capable Chief Engineers and engine crews to perform well in doing an accurate job during the bunker operation. Besides, we all know that a statement from the Chief Engineer is sufficient when it comes to the correctness of transferring oil from a supplying bunker barge. This is in terms of paying the bunker supplier involved.
